Is there an efficient registry cleaner?

My computer is messy and slow and I need help!  Someone told me I needed to find a good, reliable registry cleaner, but I didn’t know anything about this subject.  I went into the defrag program on my computer, and that helped a little.  Then I tried the software fixer program someone gave me, and that really didn’t help at all.  I looked it up online and found a few suggestions, and got myself what I thought was an efficient registry cleaner.  So far, so good.  My computer speed is much better, there seem to be fewer glitches, and no more hesitation. I am a happy camper!
