Concerned About Receiving Correct Insurance Money

My good friend, Jane, was in a car accident a few weeks ago.  She asked me “How Do Auto Insurance Company Come Up With A Settlement Amount?”  That was a very good question, but I was not sure I really knew the answer and suggested she either contact her insurance company or do a search online to find out.  She was a bit concerned because her car insurance did not give her what she felt she deserved.  I told her that I thought it was probably based on what the auto repair people said it would cost, minus her deductible, if she had one, but to not take my word, because I really wasn’t sure.
