Crafting Can Be Art
July 2, 2009 6:13 am ArtsWhen is something a craft and when is it art? I think any craft can be art if it is done well enough by a gifted person. Any art form can become a craft if it is done as a hobby. A quilter can use fabric as an art medium and form quilts or wall hangings that will stand up to any painting. If you attend a national quilt show you will see quilts that sell for thousands of dollars. The quilters have mastered the art of quilting to such a degree that the quilts become works of art. Other quilts look like arts and crafts projects with standard quilt patterns out of books and uneven stitching.
